Na de afronding van haar bachelors in architectuur en masteropleiding in Restoration, "Urban Renewal & Preservation", in Istanbul Technical University, heeft Gökçen in Turkije ervaring opgedaan op het gebied van redactionele, constructieve en archeologische werkzaamheden. Naast haar werk is ze begonnen met haar PhD opleiding in architectuur.
In juni 2001 is ze naar Nederland verhuisd. Sindsdien heeft ze gewerkt bij verschillende bureaus in Rotterdam en Delft. Voor deze bureaus heeft ze diverse projecten geleid voor nieuwbouwplannen, restauratie en renovatie van monumenten en stedenbouwkundige ontwerpopdrachten. Bij de meeste van deze projecten is ze verantwoordelijk geweest van schetsontwerp tot en met definitief ontwerp.
In 2009 heeft ze mimARchitect opgericht.

EN After finishing her Bachelor's degree in Architecture and her Master's degree (in Restoration, Urban Renewal & Preservation) at Istanbul Technical University, Gökçen obtained work experience in Turkey by means of tasks in the fields of editing, construction and archeology. Besides her work, she also started on her PhD in architecture. She moved to the Netherlands in 2001. During her time in the country she has worked for various offices in Rotterdam and Delft. In her work for these offices she has undertaken a variety of projects into housing development, restoration and renovation of monuments, urban development tasks and interior design. In the majority of these projects, she has been responsible from initial drafts to final design. In 2009, she started her own company, called mimARchitect, after the Turkish word for architect: 'mimar'.
